In my watercolour botanical illustration of the cross-leaved heath, Erica tetralix, I sought to capture the understated elegance and subtle charm of its small pink flowers and distinctive cross-shaped leaves. This piece emphasizes the intricate details and delicate textures that make this plant a quintessential part of the moorland landscape, as seen during my explorations on the Bennachie and the surrounding hills. This painting was one of my final five pieces for the Royal Botanical Garden’s Diploma course.
