Iris sp.
New Beginnings captures one of my favourite things about irises: the moment when the flower begins to emerge from the tightly wrapped bud.
The deep purple petals are still folded and crumpled, with only glimpses of the flower they will become. I wanted to capture those changing shapes and textures, from the papery outer layers of the bud to the richly coloured petals pushing through.
